Dynamic duo takes Noon Music stage

Duo Sonidos

The second concert of the Noon Music in May series features an unusual duo. Duo Sonidos brings together the talents of violinist William Knuth and guitarist Adam Levin.

A refreshing addition to the chamber music world, the duo offers an approachable yet sophisticated combination for all music audiences. By forging relationships with contemporary composers, Duo Sonidos has forwarded the mission of expanding the duo repertoire.

As international prize winners, Levin and Knuth have performed worldwide, been honored as U.S. Fulbright Scholars in music performance in Madrid, Spain, and Vienna, Austria, respectively, and have released recordings to international critical acclaim.

Levin, praised for his “visceral and imaginative performances” by the Washington Post, is a prize-winning and Billboard top-charting classical guitarist and recording artist and has performed on four continents across the globe. As an ambassador of the guitar, he is dedicated to sharing the guitar in underserved and unconventional spaces. He has raised money for hurricane victims and was awarded the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship to conduct hundreds of hours of community work in Boston public schools, prisons and rehabilitation centers.

Knuth has earned recognition for his artistry as a solo and chamber musician and has been praised by American Record Guide for his “perfect intonation, wide range of timbre … expressive phrasing, and great sensitivity.”

He spent two years as a Fulbright scholar in Vienna studying at the Vienna Universitat fur Musik und darstellende Kunst.

He was a featured performer multiple times for members of the United Nations Council and foreign ambassadors from Russia, Spain, Germany, and Austria.

In 2010, Knuth and Levin released their debut album, “Duo Sonidos,” and subsequently were awarded first prize at the 2010 Luys Milan International Chamber Music Competition in Valencia, Spain.

Noon Music is funded by the Family of Irene Bareau, with additional support from the Green Mountain Inn, The Stowe Reporter, and the contributions of concertgoers.

Stowe Community Church is handicapped accessible. The doors will open at 11:20 a.m.
